I've been to several baby showers since C was born. I can't tell you how many - that kind of calculation will take way too much brain power and I'm in conservation mode. However, I do remember that at nearly every one there was an opportunity to write words of encouragement or advice to the mom-to-be. If it wasn't for my own experience with the subject, I wouldn't have a chance in this department. But, thankfully, I have two little ones that have afforded me loads of it, experience that is. So, now, I have no hesitation when I give advice. It is simple. Straight to the point. Right to the heart and meant from the heart. And it is applicable in nearly every mommyhood. You are doing a great job. These words are like salve on a burn, a warm blanket on a chilly night, like throwing open the windows on the first day of fall after a sweltering summer. These words are so much more than what they seem. When spoken, you aren't just telling a mom she is doing a good job, you are telling her that she is in the right place. You are telling her that she is strong. She is capable. She is seen. She is heard. Her efforts will not be in vain. These tough days will pass and they will bear sweet, sweet fruit. You are telling her that she is loved and she is not alone. What feels like a slow burial now is just preparation for abundant growth. One day, the child that was once a screaming convulsing toddler will look at her with tears in her eyes and say, "thank you." And on that day, and many others before and after it, she will see the signs that proclaim, "you did a good job." Keep up the good work, my friend. Let me be the one to tell you today that you are doing a great job. You are loved. You are not alone. It is all worth it... at least that's what I'm told. ;)
You are doing a great job! "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver" Proverbs 25:11, ESV

These are all interesting things, and I enjoy it. I want to go and suggest a few of my favorites, but that might be for another time. I want to go and talk to people who share the same interests as me. If I can go and have a nice discussion with you, then I would love that. I have my own cafe, so if you ever have time, please do go and check out my cafe and let's have a talk.
